Compassion compels us to reach out to prevent the
suffering...
Say NO to casinos in Ohio. Order free Church fliers
to spread the message.
The Gospel records
are clear.
When people around Him were suffering, Christ reached out.
Feeding the hungry; healing the sick; caring for children.
Once again,
casino conglomerates have been successful in placing a proposal on our November General Election ballot
that would amend Ohio’s Constitution to legalize casino gambling. This latest
scheme, Issue 3, calls for construction of casinos in all four of Ohio’s largest
metropolitan areas – Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland and Toledo.
And the
inevitable
result of that proposal would be human
suffering. Addictions that lead to destruction of
individual lives, careers and marriages; the dismantling of families;
bankruptcies; suicides; drug abuse; abandonment and abuse of innocent
children.
Following Christ’s example
demands that we do all within our power to prevent such suffering by working
together to defeat Issue
3.
So many around us today have gotten caught up in
the economic arguments surrounding this issue and have lost sight of the
undeniable suffering that would accompany casino gambling.
CCV has
developed the bulletin insert/flyer pictured in this message to keep those in
the Church focused on the real issues and to encourage a NO vote on Issue
3.
