Ohio House Bill 176 and the federal ENDA have similar impacts on the American people, expanding housing and employment “discrimination” protections to individuals based on their sexual orientation. Simply put, special protections for those who claim to be homosexual, bisexual, or transgendered create reverse discrimination and threaten religious freedom.
Just one aspect of this reverse discrimination is affirmative action. The government will oversee the composition of business employees – including those in faith-based businesses – and require employers to cast aside their personal beliefs by hiring homosexuals and cross-dressers, even if the business or organization considers the lifestyle immoral, or the position inappropriate for the applicant.
Where are they now?
Ohio House Bill 176 passed the House (with Republican support) on June 18, 2009. It was assigned to the Senate Rules Committee, chaired by Senate President Bill Harris, where no hearings have been held on the bill. Homosexual activists are pressing to have the bill be given full hearings in the Senate.
Federal ENDA is in the House Education and Labor Committee. They will soon begin debate on this bill, which, if passed, will lead to permanent damage to American liberty as we know it.
