CCV releases Internet Safety DVD Video Provides Tools for Educators, Parents
The dangers of the Internet are real. Kids will be exposed.
The question that we must ask is: What can we do to help our children take advantage of this powerful educational resource without falling prey to its dangers?
Internet Safety: Protecting Our Children Online provides the answers. This one-of-a-kind DVD that provides practical tools with which parents and educators can help children under their care avoid the dangers of Internet usage.
From accidental exposure to life-altering pornographic images, to encounters with dangerous sexual predators, the dangers of the Internet are real, according to CCV’s victims assistance coordinator, Vickie Burress.
The 30-minute DVD approaches safe Internet usage from three perspectives. "Establishing common-sense rules and guidelines must come first," says Burress. "We wouldn’t dream of just handing our kids the keys to the family car without making sure that they understand the potential dangers and know the laws meant to protect them. But too often parents hand their kids the ‘keys’ to their computers and send them out on the information superhighway without an understanding of its very real dangers and without establishing any rules to help them."
Secondly, the DVD places considerable emphasis on installing and updating appropriate technology.
The third, and possibly the most important perspective, according to CCV’s Vice President David Miller, a father of six, is building open, honest relationships and lines of communication.
The response from parents has been overwhelming.
"We gained extremely valuable insight…We are so glad we took the time to watch it!"
"...a vital informational tool for your education as a parent."
"Watching the DVD is a great first step in protecting your children."
"You do a great job of providing a full package of ways to combat this problem."
Internet Safety: The DVD is shipped in a hard-plastic case with a 20-page illustrated booklet.
Single copies are available for a suggested donation of $15.00. Multiple copy orders are also available.
