The Rundown: How the left is celebrating International Women’s Day
The left’s world without women
On International Women’s Day, the left has decided to celebrate the day by encouraging women to boycott work and refrain from going to big businesses. They want to show the world what it would be like without women.
Their point: women are essential to our nation. Which is an odd point to make because (1) every one agrees with this and (2) the left advocates for policies that essentially eliminate women from public life and society.
The proof? Let’s look at three examples:
1) Abortion: Every year in Ohio, there are around 22,000 abortions. If we estimate that at least half of these are women, that’s roughly 30 women a day that lose their lives to abortion.
This says nothing for the devastating consequences that abortion has on the mothers. When I worked at the Arizona Family Policy Council, my boss Cathi Herrod would always say that abortion not only ends a beating heart, but it breaks a woman’s heart. Check out Live Action’s video on the topic to see what she meant and how Planned Parenthood “treats women like cattle.”
2) Transgenderism: One of the major pushes of the transgender movement is to redefine the term “sex” in law to include “gender identity.” This should outrage anyone who cares about women’s rights, because if a man can claim to be a woman and get legal protections for it, then the law becomes meaningless. Or in other words, if anyone can be a woman, no one is.
3) Political Speech: Remember the Women’s March on Washington? It became clear that that name was misleading because it wasn’t a Women’s March on Washington, it was a pro-abortion March on Washington. When pro-life feminist groups asked to be a part of the march, they were told they couldn’t sponsor the event because they didn’t support the constitutional right to end the life of a child.
So what’s the best way to celebrate International Women’s Day? Reject liberalism.
