The Daniel Initiative is a statewide movement of churches and pastors who are committed to engaging with our elected leaders to advance the Gospel and God’s values, not a political party or agenda.
Many churches today have walked away from the political process because they have felt used and abused by the political parties. But throughout the Bible we see countless stories of God’s people being a force for freedom, justice, and human dignity. We cannot lose the churches timeless voice in our culture.
The Daniel Initiative is a new way of thinking about engaging with government. It’s not about gaining power. It’s about developing real relationships with our elected officials to build up families, safeguard human dignity, and protect freedom for all.
The Church Ambassador Network
The Church Ambassador Network (CAN) is a statewide network of hundreds of Ohio churches committed to pursuing God’s truth in love. Ministry leaders are welcome to join CAN if they (1) believe in the inerrancy of scripture, and (2) believe that belief in Jesus Christ is the sole means of salvation.
Once a part of the network, pastors are provided with opportunities to engage with your elected leaders with Citizens for Community Values. It’s through this relationship between the shepherd’s of God’s church and the shepherd’s of government that we create a state where all people can thrive.
Churches in the CAN are invited to participate in three key projects:
- The Ohio Capitol Project – Connecting the shepherds of God’s church (pastors) with the shepherd’s of government (elected leaders) through visits to the Ohio Statehouse.
- Election Resources & Events – CCV’s 501(c)(3) nonpartisan election resources help churches cut through the political spin and discuss why elections matter, without getting hijacked by the political parties.
- Cultural Engagement & Issue Education – In an ever changing and hostile culture, CCV wants to help pastors navigate complex and difficult issues facing churches and families.

The Ohio Capitol Project
The Ohio Capitol Project focuses on building a ministering relationship between pastors and their elected officials. Throughout the legislative session, we bring pastors from throughout the Buckeye state to the Statehouse to:
- Provide them with a briefing on the legislative issues confronting our lawmakers and churches.
- Provide a tour of the Statehouse and share the unique impact Christians and the Church have had on Ohio throughout its history.
- Convene meetings between pastors and their state lawmakers.
These meetings between pastors and lawmakers cross party lines, and are designed to build true relationships and trust. The Capitol Project doesn’t seek to turn pastors into lobbyists, but to provide an avenue for pastors to do what they do best: share the Gospel and God’s heart.
Election Resources & Events
Especially in Ohio, churches are constantly approached by candidates and parties to promote a political agenda. But how does a pastor or church speak about important cultural and governmental issues facing families and not sacrifice their Gospel witness?
CCV wants to help churches navigate these difficult questions. American Christians are uniquely blessed in that we have the opportunity to choose our leaders through elections. Stewarding this blessing and responsibility wisely is essential. Elections are a tremendous opportunity for the church to promote justice and freedom. We cannot let our voice be silenced!
From nonpartisan Voter Guides, to information about the legal rights of churches and pastors to engage in election activity, CCV wants to help Ohio churches be a voice for good in and out of election season.
Cultural Engagement & Issue Education
Through educational forums and resources, we want to come along side pastors to help them think through what God’s word says about pressing issues facing Christians today. CCV works with churches to “Be the Light” – to speak compassionately and confidently about the most pressing issues facing men, women, and children today. Issues like:
- Religious Freedom
- Racial Reconciliation
- The Opioid Epidemic
- Human Trafficking
- And more!
The Gospel is Good News for all mankind, and the Bible shines light on all of creation. Yet in an increasingly hostile and changing culture, it can be difficult for churches and pastors to keep up.
