Press Conference on Devastating Impact of Rolling Back EdChoice
COLUMBUS – Ohio parents and students are hosting a press conference to share their school choice stories and to urge members of the Ohio Legislature to support families by not making changes to the EdChoice program that could threaten their access to an education that best meets the needs of their students.
In June of 2019, the Ohio Department of Education released guidance for parents of existing high school students that would allow those students who would be assigned to a failing high school to access an EdChoice voucher. In November of 2019, the EdChoice list was released to the public, and contained over 1200 EdChoice designated public schools. Since then, families across Ohio have made decisions based on the promise from the General Assembly that they are eligible for a voucher. These families will be sharing how rolling back the EdChoice program will hurt them.
The press conference is open to all students and parents affected by the EdChoice program.
