Job Description - OCEN Assistant Director
Citizens for Community Values’ Assistant Director of the Ohio Christian Education Network (OCEN) serves in a central role in advancing religious freedom and parental choice in Ohio education public policy.
Under the direction of the Executive Director of OCEN, the Assistant Director is the first point of contact for OCEN member schools. As such, they help OCEN develop our legislative priorities by taking the concerns and obstacles that OCEN schools and parents face, and working to develop creative solutions. They also are responsible for mass communications to the OCEN schools, and arranging site visits at the Statehouse and schools, along with other priorities.

Hours: Full time
Compensation: Competitive salary and benefits
Location: Columbus, Ohio; semi-regular in-state travel required

Work with the Executive Director of OCEN to develop the public policy priorities of OCEN.
Serve as the point of contact for OCEN member schools.
On a monthly basis, touch base with every OCEN school.
Manage and maintain the database of OCEN schools.
Schedule, promote, and execute OCEN recruitment events.
Cultivate relationships and interact with lawmakers, and employees of key state agencies that impact Christian education.
Organize OCEN schools, teachers, and parents to testify or speak out on OCEN legislative priorities.
Coordinate and lead tours of the Statehouse with OCEN students, teachers, and administrators.
Develop marketing and promotional materials on the work of OCEN.
- Stay informed on the key threats to Christen education in Ohio.
- Write and send, using CCV’s email platform, mass communications.
- Maintain the OCEN section of CCV’s website with relevant information Other projects as assigned by the OCEN ED or the CCV President.
Job Qualifications and Requirements
- Undergraduate degree required.
- Public policy or education experience preferred.
- Strong research and writing skills.
- Attentive to detail.
- Ability to communicate orally, both effectively and persuasively.
Well organized, able to operate on a schedule, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Self-starter, independent, motivated daily by a passion to see OCEN and CCV’s work advance.
Ability to be proactive and strive to close gaps in skill and knowledge.
Strong time management and organization skills, punctual, able to operate on a schedule, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to remain flexible with ever-changing priorities.
Thrive in and enjoy working in a multi-tasking, fast-paced work environment; able to get things done, highly efficient.
Strong computer skills including: Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to master constituent relationship management database system.
- Mature Christian, currently attending or pursuing attendance in a local church.
