Columbus Keynote

Pastor Andrew Brunson

Pastor Andrew Brunson
Missionary, Author, and former political prisoner in Turkey

Pastor Andrew Brunson served as a missionary in Turkey for more than 20 years. After an attempted coup d’état against the Turkish president in 2016, Pastor Brunson was among thousands arrested. He was imprisoned for more than two years on false charges of being a spy and aiding the coup.

When President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence came to office, they immediately called for the release of Pastor Brunson. To secure Pastor Brunson’s release, the Trump administration sanctioned two high-ranking Turkish officials and imposed tariffs on Turkish steel and aluminum.

Pastor Brunson was facing life in prison, yet, in a dramatic turn of events, he was released, and the Trump Administration quickly brought him home. His book God’s Hostage is the incredible true story of his imprisonment, his brokenness, and his eventual freedom.
