Consumer Warranties for… Children?

This is real. A surrogacy agency that operates in the US has a “warranty” program that sounds more like a guarantee for a dishwasher than the birth of a baby.

GestLife, a major surrogacy firm, explicitly offers "warranties" for its "products." Their terms include a "replacement" child if the baby is born with a disability or doesn't meet specific criteria. They offer comprehensive care packages that treat physical traits as menu items. A far cry from helping married couples overcome infertility, this is the industrial manufacturing of children and “superbabies” to satisfy adult desires.

If you look at all "58 guarantees," they aren't about the baby’s welfare; they are about de-risking a transaction for a buyer. Under guarantee 25, they glibly promise a “restart in the event of the baby’s death.” They want you to be "certain" you get the child you desire, "no matter what happens."

Scripture tells us children are a heritage and reward from the Lord (Psalm 127:3). GestLife’s model replaces "heritage" with "product" and "reward" with "warranty." When life becomes a buyer’s market, the child becomes a commodity, and the parents become a means to an end.

The law must recognize that a child has a natural right to their mother and father. Children are gifts to be received, not products to be designed, discarded, or replaced. CCV is standing against this commercialization of the womb. Every life is a gift from God—not a retail purchase with a money-back guarantee.
