The Right to Know: CCV and Ohio Lawmakers Unveil Informed Consent Bill for Abortion Pill Reversal
Women deserve the truth about their medical choices.
Yesterday, Tuesday, March 24, CCV Policy Executive Director David Mahan joined State Representatives Jennifer Gross and Johnathan Newman at the Ohio Statehouse to announce a new bill that ensures women are informed about the possibility of reversing a chemical abortion. Currently awaiting an official bill number, this legislation requires providers to disclose the reality of the two-drug abortion process and ensure women know that if they change their minds after the first pill, it may not be too late to save their baby.

Accurate Information is Not Propaganda
Activists and their allies in the media are already attacking this common-sense measure. They claim that abortion pill reversal is "medically unsupported." This is a lie designed to keep women trapped in a decision they regret.
The reversal process involves a high dose of progesterone. This is a naturally occurring hormone that a woman's body needs to maintain a pregnancy. Doctors have used progesterone for decades to prevent miscarriages. Using it to counter the effects of the first abortion pill, mifepristone, is a logical and life-saving application of established medicine.
Real Lives, Real Results
The data tells a different story than the headlines. Thousands of babies are alive today because of abortion pill reversal.
When a woman takes the first pill and immediately feels regret, she is in a vulnerable position. Pro-abortion groups want to tell her there is no turning back. This bill stops the deception by forcing providers to be transparent about the potential to choose life even after a mistake.
