Support Ohio Pregnancy Centers with an Ohio State Tax Deduction!

Because of new legislation backed by the Center for Christian Virtue (CCV), your charitable giving can now directly lower your Ohio tax bill. Individuals can receive up to a $750 tax benefit, and married couples filing jointly can receive up to $1,500—meaning every dollar you give to a pregnancy resource center helps reduce the income used to calculate what you owe the state.

Do You Qualify?

Before you claim, ensure your contribution meets these three critical timing and filing requirements:

  • Your donation must have been made between September 30 and December 31. (This deduction is not retroactive for earlier in the year).

  • You should take the Standard Deduction on the Federal portion of your return to ensure the PRC contribution is not itemized elsewhere.

  • This deduction can only be claimed once per individual during the return period.

Finding a Qualifying PRC

Not every organization qualifies. To be eligible for the deduction, the Pregnancy Resource Center must meet these Ohio legal standards:

  • Core Mission: A private, nonprofit dedicated primarily to promoting childbirth rather than abortion.

  • Ohio Presence: Must have its principal office in Ohio, with at least 50% of clients being Ohio residents.

  • Free Services: Must provide free support (counseling, parenting/adoption support, baby necessities) to pregnant women and caregivers of infants under 12 months.

  • No Abortion Involvement: The entity must have no involvement in abortion-related activities or advocacy and must provide services without discrimination.

How to Claim Your Deduction

Ready to file? Follow these steps based on your filing method:

If Filing Electronically

Most tax software will prompt you: “Did you make an Ohio-specific charitable donation?” Simply enter your donation amount (up to $750 per person).

If Filing by Paper

List the deduction on the Ohio Schedule of Adjustments/Deductions (located in the section for “Deductions from Income”).

Record Keeping

Ensure you have a receipt from the PRC. You will need this if your accountant or the state requests verification. Your receipt must show:

1. Date of donation
2. Total dollar amount
3. Your name (The Donor)
4. The name of the PRC
