A Letter from Center for Christian Virtue Policy Director David Mahan

Yesterday was a heavy one at the Statehouse.

I testified against SB197, a bill that would EXPAND predatory gambling in Ohio through online casinos (iGaming) and video slots in bars and restaurants. Let's be clear: this bill isn't about “entertainment." It's about targeting the poor and addicted for profit.

Gaming corporations like DegenX are now saying the quiet part out loud:  "We weaponize data to make games addictive."

Over 120 pastors and ministry leaders from across the state signed a joint letter to our governor and legislators calling this out. Several were able to join our press conference at the Ohio Statehouse to warn that more gambling means more broken families, more addiction, and even more suicides.
