House Bill 262 is scheduled to receive its first hearing in the Ohio House Community Revitalization Committee today. Center for Christian Virtue (CCV) will host a press conference on Wednesday, May 28, at 12:00 pm at the Ohio Statehouse alongside members of the Ohio General Assembly and pastors from across the state to oppose proposed legislation that would dramatically expand gambling in Ohio.

More than 100 pastors and key leaders from across Ohio have signed a joint letter to Governor Mike DeWine and members of the Ohio General Assembly opposing legislation that would legalize online poker and virtual casino gambling. Coordinated by Center for Christian Virtue (CCV), this statewide coalition of pastors and ministry leaders is calling on lawmakers to reject the proposals that would dramatically expand predatory gambling and harm Ohio families, particularly the poor.

Congress passed a major piece of legislation on the evening of Wednesday, May 21—the One Big, Beautiful Bill Act (HR1) was voted out of the US House of Representatives and on to the US Senate.

Earlier this afternoon, the Senate Education Committee unanimously passed Senate Bill 158 (SB158) to ban cellphone use in public school buildings, on school grounds, and/or on school premises during school hours.
