Hope and a Future

CCV’s flagship research on the state of family and faith in Ohio and what it means for the years ahead.

2025Center for Christian VirtueResearch report

Hope and a Future is CCV’s research on family formation in Ohio: how many children are growing up with a married mother and father, what follows when they are not and what a church or a policymaker can do about it.

The report’s central finding is that family structure is the strongest single predictor of the outcomes Ohio spends most on. Family instability feeds the poverty, addiction and violence overwhelming local communities and the ministries serving them and it is also the number one predictor of church attendance.

CCV publishes the findings on the page rather than locking them in a gated PDF and the state-level data is browsable in the Family Structure Index, which is the live version of the tables behind the report.

The initiative that followed it works through churches: a data-informed ministry plan, built with Communio, that a congregation can actually run. That work is set out on what churches can do.
