West Hollywood opens domestic partnership registry to polyamorous groups

The Nov. 3 ordinance lets groups of three or more register with the city for visitation rights and tenant protections.

In a troubling new milestone in the erosion of marriage and family structure, the West Hollywood City Council unanimously approved an ordinance allowing polyamorous groups—including "throuples" and "foursomes"—to officially register as domestic partners. Introduced by Mayor John Heilman and pushed by activist groups, the measure extends city-recognized partner status to relationships involving three or more adults, granting them municipal legal protections in healthcare visitation and housing tenant rights.

While proponents acknowledge the ordinance does not grant full state or federal marriage benefits, local activists openly celebrate the vote as an initial wedge to dismantle traditional legal frameworks. Activist attorney Christina Fialho, who proposed the ordinance, stated that the law is "just the beginning" of a broader effort to rewrite housing, healthcare, and educational policies around multi-partner relationships. To qualify, three or more individuals simply submit paperwork to the city clerk asserting mutual consent and lack of blood relation.

This decision marks the latest attempt by progressive local governments to redefine the foundational institution of society. God designed marriage as a sacred covenant between one man and one woman—a truth that has served as the anchor for human flourishing, family stability, and child well-being across generations. When culture rejects biblical truth and replaces the covenant of marriage with fluid, multi-partner arrangements, the resulting breakdown inevitably destabilizes homes, weakens communities, and harms the next generation.

As activist networks seek to export these polyamorous legal protections to other cities and states, the Body of Christ must remain vigilant and unapologetic in defending the truth. Redefining marriage and family is not a harmless social experiment but a direct assault on the moral foundation of our culture.
