Seeking The Good of Our Neighbor

While our state Representatives and Senators are out of the capital for summer recess and the campaign trail, the Policy team is hard at work. Without committee hearings and voting sessions eating up the calendar, we are using this shift in our schedule to get ahead. We're laying the groundwork now so we are in a strong position to advance our agenda once legislative activity resumes after the November election.

One of our major ongoing priorities is House Bill 249, the Indecent Exposure Modernization Act. This legislation updates public indecency laws to protect minors from unsolicited sexual material and public performances. The bill will also include proposals to prohibit citizens from changing their sex markers on government documents.

Right now, the bill is stalled in the Senate Judiciary Committee. To help break the logjam, we are bringing in everyday Ohioans to share the real-world consequences of the legislature's inaction. We must tell our lawmakers exactly why HB249 is so urgently needed and push them to pass it without hesitation.

Here are a few other key projects we are focusing on this summer:

  • Equipping Future Leaders: We are working to connect with the incoming class of elected officials taking office in 2027, helping them align their platforms with gospel-centered policies and a biblical worldview.

  • Protecting Ohio Sports: We are continuing to build a winning coalition to support the Save Ohio Sports Act and push back against the harms of sports gambling.

  • Marijuana Impact Report: We are expecting the preliminary draft of a state report on marijuana—something we heavily advocated for during the recent state budget discussions. This report will detail the drug's impact on vulnerable populations, giving us crucial data to lobby for stricter regulations and reforms.

As we navigate this new season, we ask for your prayers. Please pray for the success of these projects, the completion of our legislative agenda, and the continued protection of our team and our supporters.

Finally, please make sure you are registered for the Essential Summit coming up on October 23rd in Columbus! As always, if you have any questions or just want to connect with the team, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. 2 Timothy 4:2 (ESV)
