More than 100 pastors and key leaders from across Ohio have signed a joint letter to Governor Mike DeWine and members of the Ohio General Assembly opposing legislation that would legalize online poker and virtual casino gambling. Coordinated by Center for Christian Virtue (CCV), this statewide coalition of pastors and ministry leaders is calling on lawmakers to reject the proposals that would dramatically expand predatory gambling and harm Ohio families, particularly the poor.

Congress passed a major piece of legislation on the evening of Wednesday, May 21—the One Big, Beautiful Bill Act (HR1) was voted out of the US House of Representatives and on to the US Senate.

House Bill 155 (HB155) would ban discriminatory diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives in Ohio’s public schools, including:

• DEI training or courses, offices, departments, and job descriptions

• Contracts that promote race- or gender-based decision-making

Earlier this afternoon, the Senate Education Committee unanimously passed Senate Bill 158 (SB158) to ban cellphone use in public school buildings, on school grounds, and/or on school premises during school hours.

The Ohio Supreme Court has allowed the ban on transgender medicine on kids, also known as the SAFE Act, to go back into effect while the trial progresses. This decision means transgender medical procedures on minors in Ohio are once again illegal.
