Texas Children’s launches nation’s first detransition clinic

Texas Children’s Hospital has launched the nation’s first detransition clinic under a Department of Justice settlement. The clinic will offer endocrinology, surgery, mental health care, fertility counseling and speech pathology for patients up to age 21 who received transition services. The hospital must provide the care free of charge for five years and is barred from performing gender-transition services for minors. The case marks a national shift in how hospitals address transition-related interventions for young people.
